Garbage heaps right beside bus stop
Sainikpuri: Commuters waiting at the United Church bus stop, Sainikpuri suffer from enormous smell of the garbage dumped beside the bus stop. The garbage has become a serious concern for the commuters as well as locals of the area.
S Shruthi, a student of Bhavans Vivekananda College, said, "I have to regularly take a bus from United Church bus stop to ECIL. It has become very difficult for us students and other people who are catching the bus from this bus stop, the locals and the other shopkeepers of this area.
Every day when I come to catch a bus from this bus stop I get a foul smell which makes it difficult for me to stand here for a longer time waiting for a bus." N Lakshmi, a local resident, said, "There are many people who throw their garbage near the bus stop and leave. No matter if it is commuters or the locals of this area, when people see a little bit of garbage thrown anywhere, they tend to throw their garbage also in that place.
The government has started many initiatives and made people aware about not throwing the garbage on public roads but they still repeat the same. If the GHMC workers make sure they clean these places properly, I don't think people will throw their garbage on roadside or right on road.
This causes a lot of inconvenience to us. There are these street dogs who get some food waste that was been thrown there, and put it near our houses. During evening, since my house is just back of the bus stop there is an enormous smell coming."
