Hyderabad: Alleging that some contractors are indulging in false propaganda against the GHMC and State government, the corporation has warned of initiating action against them.

Referring to the rating AA (stable outlook) by two unnamed agencies for being one among the best municipal corporations in the country in financial management and administration, the GHMC refuted the allegation that payments were delayed by months together. "Some of the contractors with an ulterior motive and to damage the image of GHMC & State Government are spreading false allegations," said a press release.GHMC is meeting all the expenses promptly and also informed the contractors association that the pending bills will be paid in phased manner duly reviewing the finances, fortnightly.

"The State government has already released Rs 564.92 crore to GHMC from April to November 2020 and will release another Rs 312 crore from December 2020 to March 2021 @ Rs. 78 crore per month. Due to the recent unforeseen floods and general elections, GHMC could not focus on revenue collections, thereby a slight delay occurred in payment of work bills. However, after elections are over payments were released till September 10 and further bills will also be cleared in phased manner duly meeting other maintenance expenditure," said a senior officer.
