BJP Mayor will restore stormwater drains: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said here on Wednesday that, if voted to power in GHMC, the party will ensure completion of stormwater drain system by next rainy season on war-footing and to resolve urban flooding problem.

At a joint media conference with State BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar and BJP National OBC president Dr K Laxman, he said, unlike TRS which only provides a boat to every house "we will give top priority to 100 per cent restoration of stormwater drain system".

Criticising TRS and Minister KTR for peddling falsehood, Reddy said the transfer of submerging mandals under the Polavaram project to AP was the decision of the Congress government. He recalled that the issue was included in TRS manifesto of 2014 and that it had even criticised the Congress for handing over the mandals to AP during electioneering. The minister remarked that TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao along with his entire family had gone to get photographed with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. But, did not raise the transfer of mandals to AP.

Reddy claimed that people of Kapra-Mehdipatnam to Patancheru-Hayatnagar have been voluntarily expressing support to BJP in the elections.

The principal reason was, like in Dubbaka by-polls, youth and women in GHMC were carrying BJP flag in 'bastis'

He assured that if BJP wins mayor's post, it will give top priority to housing for the poor, besides, addressing problems of drainage, drinking water and infrastructure.

The minister found fault with TRS for installing toilets on footpaths and putting up portraits of KCR and KTR on them in violation of HC and SC verdicts.

Laxman said the party roped in national leaders for GHMC electioneering to drive home message of its seriousness and to assure residents to deliver promises.
