GHMC gears up to tackle monsoon urgencies
Hyderabad: Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said that the administration has prepared a mechanism to ensure the safety of civilians by effectively dealing with any disasters in the city. Mayor Rammohan launched the Monsoon Emergency teams of various departments at People's Plaza on Necklace Road on Monday morning to deal with the disasters in the forth coming monsoon season in the Hyderabad city.
Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said the personnel from all departments are working together to combat the rainy season this year. He asked all department officers to follow their own dress code – it shows how many people are working. "In view of strong winds, we will replace or ensure strengthening hoardings. GPS will be set up for all emergency teams so that teams will know where to move," he said
GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore said there are a total of 498 emergency teams in the city and he asked all the departments to work with proper coordination. He said low-lying areas in all 30 circles were identified and specific actions would be taken in those areas. Information is being obtained by the ward committee members about their local problems, too.
GHMC Enforcement Director Viswajit Kampati said the coming three months are very crucial and asked the personnel to gear up to face any contingency or emergency. The programme was attended by GHMC, HMWSSB, Fire Services, Police, Traffic Division, Hyderabad Metro Rail, Hyderabad Road Development Corporation, Electricity and Disaster Management teams.
