GHMC move to provide respite from hot sun
Hyderabad: Citing the increased temperatures in the city, GHMC has been planning for relief measures in its jurisdiction by providing water camps at traffic signals and all the major signals in the city.
Dana Kishore held a special meeting on Monday with the GHMC and water supply authorities on measures to be taken against rising temperatures. Viswajit Kampati, Director of Enforcement and Disaster Management, GHMC Chief Engineer Mohammed Ziauddin, Azmeera Krishna, Director of HMWSSB operations Department, etc., were present in the meeting.
GHMC Commissioner, Dana Kishore said in the view of gradual increase of the temperature and heat waves in the city, he ordered officials to create water camps at all the major junctions and also at traffic signals along with the construction of incomplete bus shelters. He also ordered for maintenance and of water ATMs in the city.
Dana Kishore said NGOs had constructed a total of 129 water ATMs in which only 102 are in use. He called for measures to bring all the water ATMs into use and also deploy volunteers at these. In the city, many bus shelters construction are in progress and Commissioner also requested concern authorities to set up temporary shelters in places lacking bus shelters.
Commissioner ordered Enforcement Director Viswajit Kampati to submit a report on the complaints on defunct ACs at AC bus shelters in the city. Operators of Loo-Café were also ordered to provide free water. He also ordered for the resurrection of 2,283 borewells and 2,555 Power Borewells in the city.
Commissioner Dana Kishore gave a call for NGOs to be part in setting up water camps in the city.
