GHMC settles for 1.5 cr saplings target
Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore has asked to Urban Biodiversity (UBD) wing officials to gear up for effective implementation of Haritha Haram programme.
As the Monsoon period starts in the coming days, the Commissioner instructed the officials to prepare an action plan on plantation ward-wise in 150 wards. Since, there is constraint of space, GHMC is planning an action plan for 1.5 crore plantation instead of 3 crores as fixed by the government.
Further, he instructed the UBD officials, along with Deputy Commissioners to conduct a meeting with the ward members and residential welfare associations on the requirement of saplings and also to identify number of institutions, temples, mosques, churches, open spaces, parks, where plantation can be taken up and submit a detail report in couple of days.
Dana Kishore has stated that he will hold a meeting with the Zonal Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners in this regard. He also instructed to identify the open places along reservoirs as there is scope of better survival and also add beauty to it.
The Commissioner instructed the officials that they should maintain record on distribution of saplings and to obtain the signatures to whom and no sapling have given. Smt. Amrapali Kata, IAS, Additional Commissioner, UBD works and senior officials of Urban Bio Diversity wing participated in the meeting.
