GHMC swings into action to fill potholes
Hyderabad: The GHMC has started working on roads that were damaged due to the recent rains. Nearly 200 Monsoon Emergency teams (MET) have temporarily filled 3,606 potholes that were formed in September. Following the instructions of GHMC commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar, the engineering department started focusing on filling the potholes first. Later, fully-damaged roads will be re-constructed.
MET has found 556 potholes, and among them 134 were filled on Tuesday. According to the survey done by engineering department, Secunderabad zone has nearly 168 potholes, followed by Khairatabad (127), Serilingampally (88), Charminar (72), Kukatpally (53) and LB Nagar (48). GHMC has ordered the officials to fill the remaining potholes by Wednesday.
According to the statistics, nearly 21,471 potholes were filled from June by the GHMC. Some 2,301 potholes were filled in June, 3,994 potholes were filled in July and 11,720 potholes were filled in August. GHMC has stated that Instant Repair Teams would be appointed from November 1 for the repair works.
