GHMC targets to plant 1cr saplings across city
Hyderabad: The GHMC is aiming to plant one-crore saplings across Greater Hyderabad under Haritha Haram programme. It is planning to take 60-lakh plants from nurseries and 40 lakh from private nurseries.

• Also, to plant trees in 616 open areas that belong to GHMC for creating parks
As part of Haritha Haram programme, Dana Kishore held a review meeting with Zonal and Deputy Commissioners of GHMC on Tuesday.
GHMC Commissioner ordered all the Zonal and Deputy Commissioners to inspect nurseries of the GHMC and private nurseries and make a report regarding the plant details, varieties and breeds. For these inspections special committees will be appointed, along with the Zonal and Deputy Commissioners.
The commissioner also ordered to plant abundant saplings at schools, colleges, government offices and other empty spaces that are acquired for Haritha Haram. He suggested for setting up tree guards for protection of trees at roads and in colonies, which should be collected under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He told the officials to acquire at least one-lakh tree guards under CSR.
Dana plans to plant trees in 616 open areas that belong to GHMC for creating these areas as parks. He also told to plant trees in 331 tree parks that were created about 15 years ago and also at grave yards in the city.
The commissioner said that sports equipment for children in several major parks in Greater Hyderabad will be handed over to Urban Biodiversity department. He also said agencies for the maintenance of these equipments will be finalised shortly.
On the occasion of Ramzan, Dana Kishore said to identify two masjids in each ward. These selected masjids will be presented with clothes for the prayers. Iftar parties will be held by deputy commissioners in 300 masjids of 150 wards in the city.
