GHMC to conduct free health check-up camps

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated free health check-up camps as part of precautionary measures to contain outbreak of contagious diseases during the rainy season in greater Hyderabad limits on Thursday.

Along with the spraying in various areas across the city to control the mosquitoes in the rainy season, around 500 free health check up camps would be held, said GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore recently. As part of that around 275 free health check up camps would be held in the first phase.

As many as 122 health check-up camps would be held in Hyderabad district, 54 camps would be held in Rangareddy district and 99 camps would be held in Medchal district, said commissioner.

Officials of district medical and health department, district malaria wing officials, GHMC medical officials, project officials and entomology wing officials would be participating in the free health check-up camps in greater Hyderabad limits, said the Commissioner. He said that health camps are being run in bastis and in colonies, teams would be formed to prevent the spread of mosquitoes, which would include GHMC entomology wing team, district malaria health assistants, health supervisors and medical health department officials.

Urban public health center staff along with physicians, health assistants, health supervisors and ASHA workers will be present for each health camp and they will carry out awareness programmes about the preventive measures against diseases which can spread in rainy season, the Commissioner said.

The Commissioner said that they will carrying out fogging operations in all the colonies. Swineflu, malaria, dengue testing kits would be made available at each and every urban public health center across the city. Awareness programmes about preventive measures would also be held in schools, and at various offices in each circle.
