GHMC to lay focus on animal care in capital

Nagole: As part of animal rescue measures in Greater Hyderabad, GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore said, steps are being taken to establish an animal care center at Fatullaguda near Nagole, at a cost of Rs 7 crore on July 10.

Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy on Monday visited the center and inspected the works. GHMC project wing engineers, veterinary and urban biodiversity officers also participated in the inspection. The Commissioner had ordered the officials to complete the project on a war-footing basis and ensure the center gets ready by July 10.

There are arrangements to feed and provide shelter for 400 stray dogs, 200 monkeys and more than 50 buffaloes were under progress. Recently, an animal care center was opened at Amberpet. Another center is in the plans for Jeedimetla area.

He said that tenders were called for set up of modern and technological animal crematoriums at Fathullaguda, Jawaharnagar and Gajularamaram. With the launch of the Fathullaguda Animal Care Center, the problems faced by denizens will be solved. Biogas plants will being setup at Auto nagar and Moulali with the help of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) which will have capacity of five tonnes for the Bio-mechanization.
