GHMC to plant 10 cr saplings in five years
Uppal: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Bonthu Rammohan announced that they have set a target of planting around 10 crore saplings in the city in the next five years to make Hyderabad a city of greenery.
Uppal MLA Bethi Subhash Reddy,GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore, Additional commissioner V Krishna, zonal commissioner Srinivas Reddy, corporator Pennala Devender Reddy participated along with mayor Bonthu Rammohan in the Haritha Haram programme which was conducted by GHMC at Delhi Public School (DPS) in Nacharam on Tuesday.
The GHMC Mayor Bontu Rammohan on Tuesday said that they had chalked out ambitious plans to plant 10 crore plants in the corporation limits in the next five years. He made this announcement while addressing a gathering at the Nacharam-based Delhi Public School.
The meeting was held as part of the 'Telangana ku Harithaharam programme' by GHMC on the premises of the school. The local MLA from Uppal assembly constituency, B Subash Reddy, GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore and other officials of the corporation took part in the programme.
Rammohan called upon the students of the school to plant at least 10 plants each as their contribution to the society. Noting that a total of three crore plants were planted in the city during the last four phases of the Haritha Haram programme, the Mayor said that they had decided to distribute three crore plants as part of the programme to the residents of the city free of cost under the ongoing fifth phase. He also called upon the students to act as green ambassadors and encourage others to plants trees in the city.
Dana Kishore said that they would distribute one crore plants in the first phase of the ongoing program and plant the same across the city. Later oath has been taken by the 2500 students of DPS to protect the environment, Haritha Haram and on cleanliness. students along with mayor and commissioner planted saplings in the premises of the school.
