GHMC to strengthen legal wing, says Commissioner

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner M Dana Kishore along with officials on Sunday held a review meeting on contempt cases pertaining to Town Planning, acquisition, engineering and establishment and their status. He also analysed the nature of the cases. The Commissioner instructed the officials to act promptly on illegal constructions, encroachment of lakes and nalas.

Addressing the meeting, the Commissioner asked officials to strengthen legal wing for effective implementation of court orders and monitoring status of the cases and timely filing of counters in contempt cases.

Besides, A C Legal Aditya Kumar Singh, Zonal Commissioner Musaraff Ali and chief planner, the Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, City Planners, Assistant City Planners and Section officers of all circles and Standing Counsel of GHMC attended the meeting.

The Commissioner instructed the officials to review once in a week every Saturday and bring notice of the Commissioner and Additional Commissioner (Legal) shall review legal cases every week at the zonal level on rotation basis and in turn the Commissioner will review once in a month of all cases at the head office.

The Commissioner instructed the officials that the counter should be filed in all contempt cases by July 15. To speed up the disposal of cases, the Commissioner suggested officials of having a separate legal section in each zonal office, at the level of AMC/Superintendent, a clerk and data entry operator.

The Commissioner also suggested the standing counsel to have a liaison assistants and GHMC would pay Rs.11, 000 to each. The liaison officers should attend three courts and apprise the officials as when orders passed and update posted cases. The court cases portal should be updated regularly. The Commissioner said a 2-day training classes would be conducted by the retired judges to the GHMC officials on preparation of para wise remarks.
