Glowing tributes paid to Komaram Bheem

Tank Bund: Girijan Aikya Vedika president Vivek Vinayaka organised a programme to observe the 73rd death anniversary of Komuram Bheem, a tribal leader who fought against the Nizam, at Komuram Bheem statue here on Sunday. BJP state president Dr K Lakshman, L Narsimha Reddy, SC/ST Commission members Rambabu Naik, Devarayalu and others attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Lakshman said that real tribute to martyrs such as Chakali Ailamma, Shaik Bandagi and Shoebulla Khan would be when the Hyderabad Liberation Day is celebrated by the state government officially on September 17.

While the rest of the nation got independence, Telangana was under the rule of Nizam and the region was liberated only due to the sacrifices of Telangana martyrs, he added. He emphasised on the need to make youth aware of the sacrifices made by the martyrs for the liberation of the region. BJP leaders Umesh Srinivas and leaders of various tribal associations participated in the programme and paid rich tributes to the martyr.
