Godasu Narasimha's weed remover going places

Hyderabad: Godasu Narasimha's hyacinth removing machine has now takers not just from other states in the country but also from other countries. Recently, Narsimha received 10 orders from the Kenyan Government. Speaking to The Hans India, he said that the reason for the interest for the machine is the cost.

It may be noted that in 2012, he came up with a machine to rid the lakes of hyacinth in his native Nalgonda district, which became an instant hit and soon the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation too took his services.

"Salmon Orimba, the Minister for Water, Environment &Irrigation, Kenya, saw my video on YouTube and found my innovation interesting.He then got in touch with the Indian authorities and visited my workshop along with other delegates from Kenya. According to him, the lakes in Kenya are facing the same problems and the fisherman is suffering but due to circumstances, they can't afford a Rs 1 crore machine. He was impressed by the fact that I made a similar machine at a cost of just Rs 30 lakh."

Godasu Narasimha, 47, is a a primary school teacher from Muktapur village, Ponchampally, Nalgonda. He has always been interested in coming up with cost effective devices. In 2012 he created a hyacinth remover machine and helped his community to cut down the labor cost, manpower and time became an instant hit across Telangana and parts of India.

The cost of the machine comes anywhere between Rs 25 to 30 lakh, depending upon the design and material used. Whereas the same machine made by foreign countries costsRs 1-3 crore. The machine was an instant hit due to its durability and low pricing, and Narasimha started getting orders from Pune, Orissa, Chennai, Coimbatore and Vizag.

When he was commissioned to clean the city water bodies where he used an improved version of his machine to dispose of the hyacinth and have effectively cleaned 8 to 9 water bodies.The Telangana government has supported him and has given him 25 lakhs from government side to complete the first batch of Kenya project.

"The Indian government and the Telangana Government has been very supportive because of that the work is going at a good pace and I have completed 30 percent of the work. This is a basic version I have designed as I want to first examine their situation and their needs and upgrade the further devices according to that. I will go and examine while installing the first machine and the further orders will be done according to the requirement and needs of the lakes," added Narasimha.
