Guruprochaha to be held on Sept 6
Patancheru: 'Guruprochaha' programme will be organised on a grand scale on September 6 in GMR Convention Hall, in connection with the Teacher's Day celebrations, said local MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy on Wednesday.
Addressing a meeting of people's representatives, MEO, headmasters of government schools, PETs, he made several suggestions on conducting the programme. He wanted teachers to be selected in a transparent manner, for which a committee should be set up, without the involvement of political leaders. Reddy called for combined efforts of all to make the programme a grand success.
The MLA advised teachers to encourage their students in developing interest in sports, while calling for holding of the constituency-level sports events, to be followed by those at district-level. He pledged to extend the required cooperation and financial assistance for holding the events.
Reddy called for compulsory holding of sports events every year, while warning against neglecting them. He said creation of basic facilities in government schools in Patancheru constituency was being given priority and prompt action being taken to solve any problem.
Reddy claimed that attendance in government schools was increasing with the reforms introduced by the government and that corporate institutions were facing problems with the falling admission rate.
Those present included MPTC Members K Prabhakar, G Sudhakar Reddy, Supraja Venkat Reddy, Kumar Goud, MPPs Sushmasri, E Devanand, S Praveena, Ravinder Goud, and MEO P P Rathod.
