Hasmatpet reeks of filth and garbage
Hasmatpet: Stagnant drains and filthy grounds near Sai Sagar Enclave, near RTC Colony here have left the residents aggrieved. It is a common sight for the residents of Manasarovar and Sai Sagar Enclave to come across pigs occupying filthy yards. The open drain is another big problem for the residents in the connecting lanes.
Although, the area seems to be called well-developed, the connecting lanes are extremely unpleasant. The vacant pieces of Defence land have turned dump yards for filth and garbage. The lane adjacent to Leela Gardens is in the worst situation where open drains are clogged by garbage. When asked about the drains, Roopa, a resident said, "The drain situated outside our lane always remains unattended to.
During the monsoon the entire lane is filled with the drainage water and it becomes impossible for us to even get out of the house. We get trapped." Despite several complaints, the GHMC feigns helplessness in the matter as the land belongs to the Defence and only thing Defence Ministry can take an action. "The dump and drains are a breeding ground for all kinds of insects and animals. We are fed up with mosquitoes," Roopa adds.
