Hike in budget for BC welfare demanded

Khairatabad: A team of BC leaders led by R Krishnaiah met BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar at the minister's residence here on Wednesday and demanded that he ensure increase in budget allocations for BC welfare.

Speaking to media after the meeting, R Krishnaiah said that the state government had passed 210 resolutions for BC welfare after discussing with MLAs, MPs and MLC at a meeting held on December 3-5, 2017 and decided to increase budget allocations from the current Rs 2,920 crore to Rs 10,000 crore for implementation of the resolutions.

He demanded that the government increase the budget allocations as decided in the meeting. He also demanded allocation of Rs 5,000 crore for subsidy loans given through BC Corporation. While about 5.75 lakh people applied for subsidy loans, only 40,000 people received loans, keeping the rest of the applications had been pending for last two years.

Krishnaiah also demanded sanction of additional BC gurukul schools, free training for civil services and competitive exams for BC students, increase of scholarships to BC school and college students. Krishnaiah said that the minister had assured him to address BC issues after discussing with the CM KCR. BC leaders Gujja Krishna, Venkatesh, Sathish, Koppula Jagan, Kanth, Naveen, Chandrashekhar Goud and others attended the meeting.
