Hiked Aasara pensions disbursals from July
Medchal: The increased Aasara pensions to the elderly persons, widows, handloom weavers, toddy-tappers, beedi workers, HIV patients, single women and Filaria patients will be paid, as stipulated in GO 34 dated May 28, 2019, from July this year.
The pension amounts were increased from Rs1,000 to Rs 2,016 and from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,016. The pensions were not sanctioned during the last three four months because of the model election code in force. New pensioners would be paid the amounts following the lapse of the code.
A press release issued by the DRDO said here on Wednesday that Rs.1,242.35 lakh was sanctioned to 1,09,632 pensioners. There are 31,576 old age pensioners, 52,077 widows, 150 handloom workers, 422 toddy-tappers, 164 beedi workers, 5,086 single women, 85 filaria patients and 20,072 disabled who receive the benefit.
An additional amount of Rs.2410.89 lakh is being sanctioned to the pensioners from July. An additional Rs.1,169.54 lakh will be spent for this purppose every month in the district. The May pensions would be paid on two days and that of June towards this month-end, the release stated.
