Malkajgiri: NL Rosy Nirmala Roberts (1945 to 2015), the founder of St Anthony's Educational Society, was a woman with a vision to help poor and destitute children and elderly in the society. She also strived to uplift the backward and BPL populace. Nirmala established Old Age Home and provided shelter to many elderly women since 1999.

Nirmala's son Roberts Arul said, "St. Anthony's Old Age Home was started in 1999 to meet the needs of destitute and abandoned elderly women. Our prime motto is to nurture the elderly with utmost care, provide nutritious food and provide shelter with care as well as medical support.

As of now our Home consists of 26 women inmates. Most of the funds are provided by my friends working in different sectors, such as pilot, doctors, IT professionals. Apollo Pharmacy is providing free medicines to the inmates.

Inmates Uma and Jayamma said, "We are like a family in this Oldage Home. All basic facilities including food, shelter, clothes are provided here. We are also being provided medical assistance from time to time."
