The drive was started on Monday during which 4,980 illegal banners were removed on the first day itself. As many as 9,768 illegal posters were removed on Tuesday and 5,486 banners were removed on Wednesday.
Speaking about the programme, Vigilance and Enforcement Director Viswajit Kampati said, "The programme will be held regularly. Penalty will also be imposed on people for displaying and sticking illegal flexies and banners in the city."
"GHMC officials are taking up beautification programme on a serious note which is a good sign. If the same continues, we can see a beautiful city within a short period," says Bhavana, a resident of Uppal.
"In recent times, GHMC is coming up with innovative ideas like special sanitation drive, C&D waste drive, 3600 sanitation drive and this special drive on illegal posters. The efforts by them are clearly visible," says Satwik, an engineering student from Vignan college.
