Hyderabad: Bandi hails KCR's change of stance on farm laws
Hyderabad: Telangana BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday welcomed the change of heart in Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao by supporting the farm laws brought by the Centre.
In a statement on Sunday, he said that it was a welcome sign that the TRS chief who had been opposing the farm laws praised them. He said that the BJP had been trying to impress upon the CM KCR that the regulatory farming would be detrimental to the interests of the farmers. "But, all our efforts fell on deaf ears."
He was all praise for KCR for sending messages that his government would be implementing the farm laws in the State. He reminded how the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched a soil testing scheme in 2014 but the same was neglected in Telangana.
He said that the Centre had extended assistance for agricultural mechanisation, micro-irrigation, seeds, crop insurance. But, the schemes were not implemented in Telangana to transfer the benefits of the same to the farmers of the State. He asked CM KCR to take steps at least from now on, to implement reforms right from soil testing to market yards to ensure farms have not incurred any losses.
Similarly, the Karimnagar MP asked the State government to link the market yards to National Agriculture Market (E-NAM) to ensure farmers fetch better prices for their agricultural products. He said that his party would continue to fight against whoever acted against the interests of farmers.
