Hyderabad : Hyderabad MP and MIM party chief Asaduddin Owaisi held that each flood-affected family would have received up to Rs 1 lakh, had the Central government extended assistance to the Hyderabad following deluge.

Addressing a public meeting as part of party's GHMC election campaign in Ghansi Bazar, he questioned the BJP leaders who were talking about Hyderabad as to how much Central funding was provided for development of the city. "It is Centre's obligation to provide relief to the flood-affected. Despite the visit of the central team, no steps were taken in this direction.

Had the Centre released funds, each family would have got Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 lakh as relief," he said.

Responding to the statements made by Union Minister Prakash Javadekar campaigning for BJP, State Energy Minister Jagdishwar Reddy for TRS and some Congress leaders, Asad stated that everyone's attention was now on MIM.

While asking the Ghansi Bazar voters to vote for MIM candidate, he claimed that the incumbent, Renu Soni was continuing her candidature despite it was clear now that she was not even a BC and has three children.

"This is nothing but denial of right of the Backward Classes. We shall ensure that she be booked under cheating case, and shall pursue the matter," he said.
