Hyderabad Children's theatre festival turns 10 years

Jubilee Hills: Hyderabad Children's Theatre Festival, a unique event for children has enhanced the cultural exposure of our city's younger generation greatly. In a short span of 9 years it is most likely the largest children's theatre festival in India having hosted performances by over 13 major Indian troupes and addressing more than 1,00,000 children and adults.

The inaugural ceremony for the festival held at the Dr. MCR HRD Institute. Shobu Yarlagadda, leading producer, co-founder and CEO of Arka Media Works and an ardent supporter of the festival, was the chief guest.

Hyderabad Children's Theatre Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary with a 10-day extravaganza of performances, workshops and exhibitions. Plays from award winning theatre groups from across the country such as Swangvale, Dur Se Brothers, Gillo Repertory and National School of Drama's Theatre in Education will be presented addressing all age groups, including toddlers!

The 10th edition of HCTF will see multiple workshops for kids, teenagers, parents, teachers as well as theatre professionals that include Puppet Making, Light Design, how to create Special Effect on Stage from Recycled Material and more.

This year HCTF also formally launches their Theatre Outreach Programme to benefit NGOs and government schools that normally have limited access to art & culture events in the city.

Inauguration followed by a 20-min puppet performance by Ammapur Koyya Bommala Kala Brundam. With a vast repertoire of stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, this traditional puppetry performance will be presenting a story focused on children in these myths.
