Hyderabad: City police crack landmark cases even in a Covid year

Hyderabad: The year 2020 was not a normal one, as the world had to face the wrath of Coronavirus, which caused many deaths and created a sense of widespread fear among the public. The police force played a tremendous role in ensuring stringent lockdown, facing all odds. They went beyond call of duty across the city, attending to various non-assigned needs of the public. However, even in such unprecedented times, they could achieve breakthrough in some sensational cases.

Speaking to The Hans India, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that the police department takes pride in professionalism and the sheer example is its dedication shown in solving the cases.

Citing a few sensational cases, the top cop noted, "A two-month-old infant was rescued by the Falaknuma police in nine hours after she was kidnapped by three persons. Similarly, the Mangalhat police busted a gang of three within 14 hours and rescued a girl aged four months. In another instance, the Afzalgunj police rescued a girl (3) and arrested two kidnappers."

"The West Zone Task Force nabbed four persons who were involved in hawala transaction and seized Rs 3.75 crore and four vehicles. In another case, a fake army officer was arrested for cheating 17 bridal families. He had collected Rs 6.6 crore from the victims. Also, the Task Force officials nabbed a gang of four and recovered a Durga idol and a stone claimed to be Nagamani, which they intended to sell for Rs 1 crore. The most sensational case was the arrest of six persons from Bihar and recovery of diamonds worth Rs 1. 5 crore, noted the City Commissioner.
