Hyderabad: GHMC collecting info on frontline warriors
Hyderabad: As the Covid-19 vaccine is about to be rolled out, the GHMC has started collecting details of the front line warriors---sanitation workers, waste collectors, urban local bodies staff, drivers, cremation ground and other staff who are tagged as frontline warriors of the civic body.
As per the Central government guidelines, the vaccine has to be given to government and private health staff and also sanitation employees, besides some other sections. The Housing and Urban Affairs ministry (MoHUA) has listed nine categories of municipal workers for the first round of vaccination.
According to officials, for this, the GHMC is preparing a list of people. Officials are gathering their details, which are being uploaded on the CoWIN mobile app designed by the Central government for the vaccination. "In the first round, the vaccine will be given to eligible municipal workers," informed an official.
In GHMC there are different categories of ULB staff. The corporation has started collecting details of those who are eligible, such as sanitation, all personnel including permanent contract working in the Covid/isolation centres. They also include those who are engaged in daily collection of municipal waste from households and sweepers.
Among others are plant operators, waste segregators and frontline ULB staff, such as engineers, Revenue and other departments, like door-to-door tax collectors, stormwater drain cleaners and drivers, ULB-owned city bus drivers, conductors and water tanker operators and people working in cremation grounds, staff of civil/electrical maintenance, junior engineers, water metre readers, water supply linesmen. According to GHMC officials, the complete list with all details will be shortly ready.
