Hyderabad: Historic monuments ensured clean & safe

Charminar: During the Covid-19 pandemic, the essential workers tended to keep the city neat and clean, especially the surroundings of historic Charminar. Sanitation workers of Ixora FM in collaboration with GHMC ensured that the Charminar and its surroundings remain clean.

The sanitation workers have been cleaning work for the last 14 months and even during lockdown and now in this slightly chilly night of winter with the temperature dropping too low. Sanitation workers of Ixora FM in collaboration with GHMC taken an initiative and a mission 'Hamara Charminar, Swachh Charminar' to keep the area of the historic structure neat and clean, these workers will be sweeping trash, emptying recycle bins, also by cleaning the tiles of Charminar Pedestrian Project (CPP).

With all safety precautions provided for sanitation workers are exposed to the dirt. Every night these workers clean Charminar, Mecca Masjid, Lad Bazar road, Gulzar Houz and Nayapul road. They have also been honored and felicitated by the startup for their efforts to keep Charminar surroundings clean.

Explaining about the cleaning process, Mohammed Omer, a supervisor said, "I supervise the cleaning works, he cleans the tiles which were laid around the monument as part of the CPP by using high-end sweepers and scrubbers to clean the flooring and single desk machines are used with high-quality chemicals. We sanitation workers come at work after 12 am every day, ensuring that the area is totally clean," Omer added.

"We have been working at Charminar for more than 3 years, after finishing up the cleaning work we go to each and every shop for spreading awareness of keeping the city clean. Some shop owners also came forward and appreciated our cleaning work with felicitation also contributed by not littering the place with plastic cover or other trash," said Manish Singh, in-charge, Ixora FM.
