Once the functioning of the new command centre is operational, policing in the State will get a big fillip as advanced technologies will come into use with far better monitoring system in place, says Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar.
"Time and again we have said that the new command centre will be beneficial in policing as the latest technology is being used in the data centres to maintain the servers wherein the integration of database will happen with the data received from GHMC and police and it will help in curbing the anti-terror activities and the technology used in the construction of the sleek glass towers is very much advanced," according to the senior official. The command and control centre has garnered a lot of attention from many States in India and officials of the states have visited the site to study the latest technology and equipment being used in the construction. More importantly, the command centre will give a boost to measures to curb crime in the city as the entire city will be monitored through the footages of 1 lakh CCTV cameras.
The data centre with integrated command and control centre will be situated in the middle of all towers from 4th to 7th floors covering an area of 40,000 sq. feet. It consists of server racks, double height TVs for video calling, and also to monitor the CCTV camera footage and war room. The building will also accommodate the technology teams and field officers and it will also act as disaster and crisis management centre housing all the related government departments. Apart from it, it will also help in managing the traffic connectivity, crime controlling system, incident management, fire department, revenue, GHMC, R&B and health departments will all be under one roof.
The command centre is being constructed on 7 acres of land owned by the police department and it will house four towers in which one tower will have 20 floors and three towers will have 16 floors each. Though the actual estimate for the entire construction was Rs 350 crore, it was revised to Rs 585 crore due to technical issues and also due to lockdown. The foundation stone for the centre was laid by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in 2015 and it was noted that the building was designed as an environment-friendly project with solar roof and latest solar technology to produce clean and green electricity.
