JNTU student ‘masks’ cuss words

HYDERABAD: Are you a politician, a traffic cop or an ordinary citizen? Are you finding it difficult to control your anger? Do you use abusive language landing you in trouble? A solution to such problems seems to be in the offing.

A BTech student of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, has come up with an innovative idea by using technology. The student created a mask embedded with electronic chips which will filter all the cuss words and convert them into polite and socially acceptable words.

Speaking to The Hans India, a senior faculty member of the JNTUH said the electronic chips embedded in the mask will recognise the abusive words used intentionally or unintentionally under fit of anger and will be converted into a polite language.

This, he said, will help in reducing street brawls, road rage and conflict generated by the influence of cuss words. According to the JNTU-H faculty, there are over 20,000 students from the final year of computer sciences in the BTech courses who work on creative projects.

There needs to be a way out to give a patient hearing and listen to what each student wants to do if we want to encourage innovation and creativity, the faculty member said.
