Notorious house burglars nabbed

Hyderabad: The North Zone Task Force on Saturday arrested a person who was impersonating an Army officer and cheating gullible women on the pretext of marrying them. The accused was identified as, M Srinu Naik (42), a resident of Jawahar Nagar and the cops seized a dummy pistol, three pairs of Army uniform, a fake Army ID card, fake Master degree certificate from CMJ University and other documents, four cell phones, three cars, and cash worth Rs 85,000 from his possession.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Anjani Kumar said that the accused is a native of Prakasham district and studied till class 9 and in 2014 he moved to Hyderabad and informed his family members that he got selected as an army officer and his family believed him. As he was habituated to a lavish lifestyle he hatched a conspiracy to cheat women by looking out for their profiles on matrimonial websites and in such a fashion he cheated 17 women in tune of Rs 6 crore and purchased a duplex house for himself at Jawahar Nagar, a Mercedes-Benz, one Fortuner and one Thar.

"To make easy money in a short span of time the accused began to pose as an Army officer and he also obtained an Aadhar card in the name of Srinivas Chowhan and also procured an Army ID card in the name of MS Chauhan, bought an Army uniform, including caps and badges, and toy pistols. He took photos of himself dressed in an Army uniform and posted them on social media. He also obtained a fake M.Tech certificate from CMJ University, Meghalaya."

However, he was arrested under section 417, 419, 420 of IPC and was remanded to judicial custody of 14 days.
