Hyderabad: Mandi system will go with farm laws says Kavitha
Hyderabad: K Kavitha, TRS MLC and former MP, on Sunday hit out at the Modi Government for denying to provide an assurance for minimum support price (MSP) to farm produce, which led to nation-wide protests. The TRS will support the Bharat Bandh of farmers on December 8, she said. "Our party leadership has taken a decision in support the Bharat Bandh and we will protest the same", she said, while speaking to a section of the media.
If the existing mandi system collapses (by the Centre) there will be no alternative for farmers, she pointed out. "Keeping this big challenge in view, farmers are on streets for 11 days. The Centre has to withdraw the laws which failed to give confidence to farmers", she said.
Kavitha charged that the Central government was trying to destroy the open markets of mandis in the country, disabling farmers from selling their farm produce. "Farmers are on a warpath in protest this draconian laws brought out by the Modi government".
She accused the Modi government of "indulging in anti-people and anti-farmers policies. The BJP-led government should think of farmers' welfare and not destruction by the new laws, she suggested.
"Farmers are up in arms, as the laws are denying MSP and will remove the mandi system. There is no security for farmers through the new anti-farmers laws enacted by the Centre and nation-wide protest is on . We will support this stir and vie for its success Kavitha said.
