Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan reviews Covid vaccination exercise

Hyderabad: Mayor Dr Bonthu Rammohan has instructed the officials to identify government schools and colleges where enough spaces are available and suitable for setting up vaccination centres with seperate rooms for waiting, vaccination and observation.

On Monday, he conducted a meeting along with the district medical and health and district immunisation officers on preparedness for Covid-19 vaccination. The meeting was attended by GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner (Health) Badhavath Santosh, CMOH Padmaja, district medical officers and district immunisation officers of Ranga Reddy and Medchal districts.

A committee was also formed to identify about 1,100 centers for vaccination purposes on the basis of each center for 100 for 1 lakh people. "The preliminary work of identifying and mapping of centers should be completed by January 10, 2021," Mayor instructed.

In the first phase, the Covid-19 will be administered to 1 lakh Health care workers including nurses, paramedic staff and so on will be the first ones to get the vaccine dose. Police and municipal workers will be covered in the second phase and those who are 50 years and above and those below 50 with chronic ailments will be vaccinated in in the 3rd phase.

Further, it is opined that an awareness campaign to be undertaken by the GHMC that everyone will get a vaccine and it will be administered in a phased manner and to ward off any doubt about immunisation of vaccines.
