Hyderabad: Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao on Sunday faced the ire of residents in Yapral, who took up a rally with posters of 'No Roads No Votes'. They let him go after signing a note on his letter pad for laying roads. The incident happened, as Rao was going for campaigning. Voters in Prakrutik Vihar, in Yapral (Medchal district) were taking up a rally. They said before seeking votes, leaders should see roads.

After facing heat from locals, the MLA, with hand on his head, promised to take up construction of the road after December 1. When they refused to relent, Rao signed a note stating that he would take the responsibility to lay the road after December 1. He also mentioned that if he cannot keep the promise, he would resign from his post on December 31. The locals later said if the MLA failed to take up their issue, they would stage a dharna at his residence.

Earlier, the MLA stated that he would take up road works with his own money after the elections. However, the residents asserted that there was no need for him and asked him to get funds from GHMC, which collected taxes from them. The locals alleged that even after many representations for laying roads the GHMC authorities, which were neglected. They alleged that the Defence ministry had permitted GHMC to lay roads, but the authorities had not started work on excuse of NOC not being issued. "Politicians come to the locality and show off during elections, but later they never look back," they flayed.
