Hyderabad: No impact in Old City

No impact in Old City

Charminar: Even as most of the political parties across the nation and even TRS backed the Bharat Bandh, the AIMIM's silence over the issue left the Old City and Muslim dominated areas mostly unaffected.

Even though the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi also backed the farmers' protest through his statements on social media and expressed solidarity, the party leaders in the sSouthern part of the city were mostly seen busy carrying out their routine in their constituencies.

No demonstration was seen anywhere. In the recent television debates also, Asaduddin spoke against the farm bills, but interestingly on the day of bandh, the AIMIM party chief who is generally known for being vocal against the BJP government policies remained unspoken.

Meanwhile, the newly elected MLA Akhtar-ul-Imaan joined the farmers in the protest in Bihar but local party MLAs, corporators and leaders were seen with their routine work like engaging themselves in welfare activities like cheque distribution.

While most of the social organizations representing Muslims backed the call and rallied behind the farmers cause, the protests and statements mostly remained on the social media.
