Hyderabad: Officials ignore pleas of locals at Ramnastpura Division
Known as a predominant bastion of the MIM, the Ramnastpura Division (55), has a total of 37,802 voters with 19,336 males, 18,457 females and nine transgenders.
Known as a densely populated Muslim majority area of Falaknuma Division under Bahadurpura constituency, this division consists of several areas including Tadban, Amjadulla Bagh, Macca Colony, Ramnastpura, Muchi colony, Chandulal Baradari, Falaknuma, Nawab Sahab Kunta, Kishan Bagh, Bahadurpura and Basti Nabi Kareem (BNK) Colony.
Here, most of the inhabitants are seen reviling and complaining about their grievances without having the guts to face the leadership.
"Several areas, especially Tadband crossroads, has a severe perennial issue of sewerage and water supply. GHMC contractors lay roads on the streets without separating and streamlining the sewerage and water supply lines resulting in water contamination. Despite bringing the matter into local corporators' notice, the issue hasn't been addressed so far," informed an anxious resident of Tadban area on request of anonymity.
The ward largely consists of underprivileged and backward colonies consisting of daily wage workers or labourers. The ward is known for its famous landmarks such as a slaughterhouse called 'Kamela' besides Mir Alam Water Filter, government ITI and Nehru Zoological Park located at a stone's throw away distance from each other.
With the existence of three Basti Dawakhanas in this ward, the social status of the local population can easily be ascertained as these health centers are for serving the underprivileged populations in the GHMC limits.
Ironically, this ward was represented by senior most corporator Mohammed Mubeen who has an experience of representing three wards in the last fifteen years. After representing Aghapura ward for the first time, he was allowed to move to Ramnastpura ward and after serving there for almost two terms he has now secured the ticket from Shastripuram ward.
"As to resolve every civic issue one needs to get the approval of the local leader. We can't even call directly to sewage tankers to get rid of overflowing filth next to our houses as the GHMC staff responds only to leaders' calls. Roads are always filled with heaps of garbage as the trash is not being carked away regularly. This is how the situation prevails here for several years," said Muneeb, a resident of Ramnastpura.
As the ward is reserved for BC (General) category, presently five candidates - Mohd Inkeshaf from TRS party, Mohd Khader from AIMIM, M Guru Charan from BJP, Mohammed Yousuf Danish from Congress and Chavan Ramesh (Independent) – are in the battle.
