Hyderabad: PV Narasimha Rao hailed for reforms on 16th death anniversary

Hyderabad: Various leaders cutting across party lines hailed the services rendered by former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao to the country. They termed PV as a compass to the country. The leaders made these remarks on the occasion of the 16th death anniversary of the former PM.

PV Narasimha Rao would remain etched in the country's history forever as a staunch reformer, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said on Wednesday. Recalling the former premier on his death anniversary, he said the country was enjoying the results of reforms ushered in by PV in education, economy, land, administration and other sectors. The CM noted that the Rao's firm attitude in internal security and external affairs, diplomacy had strengthened the country's unity. Assembly Speaker Pocharam said that PV was not a leader but a force and added that the thoughts and views of PV would always remain with the people of the country although he was not physically present amid them. He said that the centenary celebrations of PV were being held in a grand manner under the leadership of the chief minister of the state KCR and TRS Parliamentary Party leader KK.

Council Chairman Gutta Sukhendar Reddy, Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Home Minister Mahmood Ali, MLC K Kavitha and other dignitaries fondly remembered PV's contributions. Leaders, including MP Keshava Rao, along with PV's daughter Vani and son Prabhakar Rao paid tributes at PV Ghat. Various leaders said that PV was a great leader who had brought huge amount of reforms in the country. They said that the organisation of PV centenary celebrations of the former PM was a fitting tribute to him.
