Hyderabad: SHE Teams round up 48 eve-teasers in a month

LB Nagar: Rachakonda SHE-Teams booked 57 cases (24 FIRs, 26 petty cases and 7 counselling) against the eve teasers in the last four weeks and took 48 respondent eve teasers into custody, of which 34 were majors and 14 minors. The respondent eve-teasers attended the counselling session conducted by Rachakonda SHE Teams, at the commissioner camp office, Nagole, along with their family members. They were counselled by professionals from the Bhumika Women's Collective (NGO). Minors will be counselled by Chief Consultant Psychologist.

Explaining about the cases, the SHE Teams said a minor girl of 17 years was harassed in the name of love by an auto driver K Venu of Ankapalli village in Mancheriyal district. The accused proposed her to love him. One day he went to her home and threatened her with dire consequences by abusing in filthy language. On her complaint at Malkajgiri Police Station, the accused was arrested and remanded.

In another incident, a 15-year-old girl, studying Intermediate first year was harassed by the accused R Anil of Pakeergudem village in Bommala Ramaram mandal. He followed her for the past one year while she was going and returning from college. One day, while she was going to home from college the accused stopped her and proposed her and he slapped on her face and threatened with dire consequences if she did not accept his proposal. On her mother complaint registered at Bommalaramaram PS, the accused was arrested and remanded. On a decoy operation conducted by the Bhongir SHE Team, three respondents were apprehended. Vadi Sridhar, Gundla Shivakumar, Doke Praveen of Kunur village were caught red handedly for indecent movements and creating nuisance in front of women. A case has been booked against them and also were fined for triple riding.

Kushaiguda SHE Teams in decoy operation conducted at ECIL Kamala Nagar apprehended two minor boys while they were passing lewd comments and making indecent movements to the college girls. They were counseled at Kushaiguda PS in front of their parents.

In another decoy operation conducted by Choutuppal SHE Teams at Ramannapet bus stand, four minor boys were caught while passing lewd comments at the college girls. They were also counseled at Ramannapet PS in the presence of their parents.

Rachakonda SHE Teams are taking pro-activeness to eradicate social evils like child marriages. Till now Rachakonda SHE teams averted a total 71 child marriages and rescued 71 minor girls from the social evil. On January, 28 marrige between a14 years girl, who is studying 10th class with 23 year old relative was stopped at Kammaguda village in Abdullapurmet mandal.
