Hyderabad: Tejasvi barges into OU campus
Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Osmania University on Tuesday when BJP youth wing president Tejasvi Surya and his supporters removed police barricades to enter the campus.
He and his supporters were stopped at NCC Gate by the police. The BJP MP and other leaders and workers accompanying, however, forced their way into the campus by removing the police barricades.
Surya and other leaders reached Arts College, where he addressed the students and youth. "BJYM is power of youth of India! No fences, no barricades, no police force can stop us from doing the right thing. The more you try to stop us, the more powerful will be our fight back," Surya tweeted.
The BJYM chief, who is in Hyderabad to campaign for BJP for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, alleged that he came to the university to pay respects to martyrs of Telangana but Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao instructed police to stop him.
Stating that Osmania University was the epicenter of Telangana movement, the MP from Bengaluru remarked that the martyrs didn't belong to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). He targeted KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, for what he called family rule in Telangana. "Telangana is not property of one family. Telangaa was built on sacrifices and on blood and sweat of people and not of KCR family," he said.
