Ill-placed bus stop causing traffic jams
Ramakrishnapuram: The bus stop at Ramakrishnapuram causes more inconvenience than comfort. Ill-placed just at the foot of Ramakrishnapuram Bridge, the bus stop is causing traffic jams, whenever a bus halts, as vehicles from three sides pass through the road.
The commuters who want to take a right turn once they reached the bus stop also contributed to the traffic jams. With the Army Public School just 50 metres away from the bus stop, the space appears to be jam-packed, with autos, scooters and cars trying to make their way out of the congestion.
The RTC bus stop is also located in the narrow space of the Y-Road, which is used by many passengers on a daily basis. The traffic gets unmanageable in the early hours when every person is rushing for work.
Ankita, a student, says, "Many times it becomes difficult for us to even cross the road. The seven-seater autos also contribute to the traffic woes."
Vijay Lakshmi, a resident of RK Puram, said, "The bridge is not wide enough to accommodate the heavy traffic, and it is the only route in the area that is used by many people on a daily basis. At times, it is difficult for us to get out of the residential area even on two-wheelers."
