Illegal settlements beneath Tank Bund demolished

Tank Bund: Town Planning Officials of GHMC circle 15 demolished illegal settlements under Tank Bund flyover on Wednesday. As many as 18 huts were removed using bulldozers. Town planning ACP of circle 15 Sathyanarayana warned of stringent action against those who encroach footpaths. The entire operation was monitored by DMC Uma Prakash, town planning ACP Sathyanarayana and AMHO Dr Hemalatha.

Some people have illegally built huts on the right side of Tank Bund flyover, and it was reported that they were engaged in anti-social activities. Based on the complaints from locals on anti-social activities and unclean surroundings, GHMC town planning officials swooped in to demolish the illegal settlements. Tension prevailed during the demolition as hut dwellers argued with the officials, in an effort to stop them from demolishing huts.

However, 18 huts were demolished with the help of two bulldozers, municipal staff, amidst security provided by police team led by Chikkadpally ACP Narsimha Reddy and CI Venkat Reddy. The operation started at 10 am in the morning and was completed without any hurdle with the help of police. Municipal EE Narayana, vigilance AE Sujith along with a large number of municipal staff participated in the operation.
