Vikarabad: District Collector Ayesha Masrat Khanam on Wednesday urged people to use clay idols for Vinayaka Chathurthi to protect environment and prevent pollution. She conducted a meeting with potter community leaders here on Wednesday.

She told them that trained and skilled workers should make Ganesh idols. She also directed the officials to set up stalls at government offices and mandal headquarters for sales of clay idols.

Keeping in view tourists, a stall should also be set up at Ananthagiri, the Collector told the officials. The idols would be made available through DRDA and MEPMA. The Collector said the idols were not expensive and people should utilise the opportunity. She urged the makers to use natural colours.
