Irregularities in medical counselling: BC leaders

Secretariat: Several BC activists led by BC Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah met principal secretaries of education and medical and health departments Janardhan Reddy and Shanta Kumari respectively, took to their notice irregularities in the counselling for medical seats.

The delegation alleged that irregularities were committed in implementation of the SC, ST, BC and minority reservations and held the Vice-Chancellor of Kaloji Health University responsible for the grave mistakes.

Despite meeting Health Minister and higher officials in this regard, no action had been taken to correct the anomalies, they lamented and demanded that top officials conduct third counselling for the remaining 185 seats after the EWS allotment.

The BC leaders alleged that BC candidates who qualified in the open quota were counted under reservation quota, which was against the reservation policy. Reservations should be given only after allocation of open seats but the candidates who got in open category were allocated seats under the reservation quota.

They expressed concern that, as a result, as many as 262 candidates could not get seats because of the 'deliberate' mistake and demanded that the officials allocate seats to the BC students in third counselling. Gujja Krishna, Jillapalli Anji, Joshi Raghava, Pagilla Satish, Narsimha Naik and others took part in the discussions.
