Islam gives women best possible rights in society

Charminar: International Islamic scholar Hazrat Syed Peer Hashimuddin Al Jeelani, the successor of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani, the founder of the Qadri Sufi order in Baghdad (Iraq), attended a one-day women's conference organised by the Islamic seminary, Jamiat-ul-Mominath at Urdu Maskan, Khilwat on Saturday evening.

The programme was also attended by Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, MLAs Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, Ahmad Pasha Quadri, Minority Commission chairman Md Qamaruddin, Waqf Board member Waheed Ahmed and other Islamic scholars, besides large number of women.

Addressing the gathering, Syed Peer Jeelani explained the responsibilities of women in society and held that Islam was the only religion that gave the women best possible rights in society, besides best position and status. He said that the responsibilities of mothers and sisters have increased even more in the current period. "The most important responsibility you all have is to make family survive and the upbringing of the children, the Islamic way," he noted.

Emphasising on women's role, historically in Islam, he said after the Prophet Mohammed left from this world, the companions received guidance from Hazrat Aisha, one of his wives and who also explained them Quranic teachings.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ali expressed concern over increasing number of familial disputes, especially due to incoherent communication between bride and mother-in-law.

To control this trend, he said that women on both sides should have patience and stick to ethical behavior. Later, after Isha prayer, a grand public gathering 'Ghouse-ul-Wara' conference was held at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium located near City College in Petla Burj on Saturday night.

It was attended by huge gathering, where several other Islamic scholars also addressed the gathering. Syed Peer Jeelani addressed the gathering in English and Arabic language and it was translated by a local Islamic scholar.
