It's raining money on GHMC

Hyderabad: As part of prevention of seasonal diseases, GHMC has cracking whip on people littering public places or for not keeping their surroundings tidy and clean. In order to ensure Swachh Hyderabad, it is imposing huge fines for public urination, throwing garbage wastes on roads, on houses with sanitation issues, dumping construction materials on roads, throwing wastes in nalas or keeping the surroundings untidy.

GHMC started the special drive on May 25 and the total amount collected by fines reached Rs 1,03,31,621 by Monday. In spite of many awareness programmes conducted on differentiating dry wastes and wet wastes, there is no change in ground situation. Seeing red over the violations, GHMC officials spreading across the twin cities to slap penalties for not following its rules to keep the city clean and green.

The total numbers of fines in the city is 8,475. Chandanagar stood at first place with 518 cases and Rs 16,90,000, followed by Serilingampally and Khairatabad with Rs 13,90,000 and Rs 8,41,400 respectively.

RC Puram circle stood last with 45 cases and Rs 60,400. Gajula Ramaram people had to Rs 74,990. Fines are issued in all divisions, including Kapra (414), Uppal (417), Hayath Nagar (274), Chandrayangutta (255), Rajendra Nagar (139), Yusufguda (78), Quthbullapur (53), Alwal (201) etc.On Monday alone, fines were imposed in 65 cases across the state capital.
