Hyderabad: Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao will kickstart the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections with a public meeting in Karimnagar on March 17.

The Chief Minister will launch the campaign from the Karimnagar Lok Sabha segment, which has sentiment attached to it. TRS leaders said the party president starts his programmes from Karimnagar as per vaastu as it is located at Ishanyam.

TRS working president K T Rama Rao had also started his preparatory meetings from Karimnagar. KCR has also decided to hold another public meeting on March 19 in Nizamabad Lok Sabha segment presently represented by his daughter Kavitha.

Sources said the CM has already decided on who should be the candidates in about 10 constituencies. After the candidates are finalised for all the seats, the campaign schedule for these constituencies would be announced, the sources added.

The sources further said the TRS chief would address one meeting in every Lok Sabha segment covering 16 constituencies. Earlier, it was said that the CM would address many meetings, but the party has decided to hold only one meeting each for constituency and asked the local MLAs to ensure the party candidates get huge majority from their respective constituencies.

The party is aiming to win 16 out of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the State leaving out one for its ally AIMIM. The party expects it would be a cakewalk for the TRS candidates as the people blessed the party with 88 seats and several Congress MLAs too have pledged their support to the TRS.

With the Chief Minister deciding to take the center-stage, the tour programme of K T Rama Rao has been cut short. According to the party leaders, KTR would now address only four meetings at Nizamsagar project site for Zaheerabad Lok Sabha and Secunderabad on March 13.

He would address party leaders meeting at Ramagundam for Peddapalli Lok Sabha on March 15 and the last meeting at Nalgonda. All the other meetings have been cancelled as the Lok Sabha election schedule has been announced, said party general secretary Palla Rajeshwar Reddy.
