Kidnapped infant rescued, 3 arrested
Patancheru: The sensational kidnap of two-month-old infant on the midnight of May 25 ended on a happy note on Tuesday with a special team of the local police arresting Lakshmi of the Moinabad area and returning the boy to the parents.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajeswara Rao, along with several senior officers, held a press conference in the Patancheru Police Station to announce the arrest of Lakshmi. He said she was arrested following credible information. According to DSP, when the team members questioned Lakshmi, she confessed her involvement in the kidnapping.
Lakshmi revealed the interesting details of the case. The childless couple of Upparbasti, Yetu Ramanamma and Rama Rao, had consulted Lakshmi about children. Lakshmi saw the boy's parents, Agamayya and Yellamma, near Muthangi, along with their children, while seeking alms. She had asked the couple to sell one of their three children. Upon their refusal, she ran away picking up the boy, while the couple was sleeping. Lakshmi, according to the police, sold the boy to Ramanamma and Rama Rao for Rs 40, 000.
The police, who handed over the boy to his parents, registered a case against Lakshmi, Ramanamma and Rama Rao and sent them to remand. The DSP praised the work of SIs Praveen Reddy, Raju, constables Sridhar, Anand, Kavita, Vijayalakshmi for arresting the accused within 48 hours of the incident.
