Kishan Reddy calls for uplift of Rajakas

Secunderabad: The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kishan Reddy said that the State government needs to strengthen Rajaka (washermen) community and address their issues.

He was speaking at a programme to inaugurate compound wall constructed for Dhobi Ghat at Mahendra Hills on Tuesday. Deputy speaker of Telangana Assembly T Padma Rao Goud and union minister attended the programme as the chief guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Kishan said that there was a need for providing better facilities to Rajaka community based on the city population. He said that modern facilities similar to those being used by corporate companies to wash clothes need to be provided.

Washermen have been facing many problems, especially water shortage and land-related issues, and government should take initiatives to help them. The compound wall for Dhobi Ghat was constructed with MP funds, he said. He assured them of providing help for the construction of dobhi ghats in future.
