Kushaiguda: 5 km save fuel walk held
Kushaiguda: A large number of employees and students participated on Sunday in the five km walk, 'Samrakshana Kshamatha Mahotsavam' from NSIC in Kushaiguda.
The event is intended to conserve consumption of fuel in view of the resources drying up in future. The participants undertook a pledge to save fuel. The walk was organised throughout the country by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) in 624 districts, a press release said.
"Saksham-2020", a month-long campaign of PCRA with a tag line 'indhan ko adhik na khapayein, aao paryavaran bachayein' is one such effort in this direction.
During the "Saksham" campaign which commenced on January 16, a number of activities are being undertaken by PCRA in association with oil and gas companies. The activities include various training programmes, group talks, quizzes, debates, technical workshops, concerts, talent shows, cycle rally on January 19, fuel efficient cooking contests, fuel Efficient driving contests, communications through social media platforms/television/radio, print media publications, effective dissemination of the message of fuel conservation and sustainability.
The oil Industries, jointly with PCRA, will conduct training programmes for drivers on better habits to save fuel. Workshops will be organised for housewives on better cooking habits to save LPG. Quiz, debate and painting competition will be conducted in schools and colleges to emphasise upon the importance of conservation. Mass awareness programmes will be conducted in agriculture and industrial sectors too.
