L B Nagar: Members of the Lambadi Ikya Vedika on Sunday staged a dharna at local DCP office protesting against the recent gang rape of a Girijan under the Pahadishareef police limits.

They demanded immediate arrest of the offenders and suspension of CI for allegedly colluding with the rapists. According to the protestors, the victim, Tirupati Bai and her husband Chandu of Nagarkurnool district were employed at a poultry farm of Prasad Reddy for the past four months in Harshaguda, Maheshwaram.

They alleged that Reddy and his four friends after confining Bai and Chandu in different rooms resorted to gangrape on the midnight of September 18, citing Chandu's complaint at Pahadisharief police.

Ikya Vedika state president Raj Kumar alleged that the rapists were being supported by the TRS party. He demanded an inquiry into the incident and Rs 10 lakh to Bai's family, besides allotment of three-acre land.
