Jeedimetla: Students of ZPHS Jeedimetla are being taught English language in an innovative way. Activities have been designed to make them fluent in the language. Debate, recitation, conversation and language games etc are being conducted to bring the innate talent in them, too.

B Asha Rani, the National Best Teacher Awardee this year, says reading corners are set up in classrooms with a variety of language elements which include jokes, riddles and cartoons. Every student is asked to learn and introduce a new word to the class. This improves children vocabulary which is created by them. Language games like board games, bingo and rhymes are a part of their daily activities. Students take up interviews, present skits, plays in English at various occasions in the school.

A double PG in Political Science and English, she holds Post-Graduate Diploma in the Teaching of English (PGDTE). Explaining her teaching methods, she said, "These activities help the students perform better in examinations and also in real life. Students achievement in English at the board examination is on a par with their first language performance."

At ZPHS Neredmet, she helped orphan and semi orphan students who were not in a position to acquire stationery. Being one of schools with a huge strength of students, ZPHS Neredmet has over 400 girl students. She realised there was an immediate need of a sanitary napkin vending and disposing machine. This was soon materialised with the support of a team of doctors under the leadership of Dr Neha, a gynaecologist.
