Launch of nala works sparks protests
Quthbullapur: The hasty inauguration of core nala works in the 132-division sparked protests here on Monday. TRS leader KM Prathap, along with members of local colony welfare association, questioned officials on this at the GHMC office.
The state government sanctioned Rs 3 crore for the development of naturally formed nala in 2016. However, the works had come to a halt as the irrigation department could not initiate the works. But, Lal Sing, DE of GHMC Circle-25, started works, allegedly throwing all precautions to the wind.
Colony associations alleged that the works were started neither from the beginning of the nala or from the end. The works are also causing severe inconvenience to local residents, they said. They took the issue to notice of the Commissioner Mangathayaru and EE Chaitanya Krishna. KM Prathap submitted a memorandum to them, detailing the issue.
